Coche Comedor is a 2,800sf 75-seat diner adjacent to La Fondita. As both restaurants are owned by Honest Restaurants, there was a concerted effort to create a congruent flow between both spaces. Having also designed La Fondita, CCS already had a foundational understanding of the look and feel needed in order to create easy and harmonious interactions between the two restaurants and their customers. Most notably, the wall that faces La Fondita was opened up creating a clear architectural relationship between the two spaces and, in warmer months, the glass doors retract almost entirely to create a much more open feel as well as an outdoor seating area between the two buildings.

A graffiti artist from Brooklyn (who goes by Host18) was commissioned to paint an interior wall mural while seven different local artists are painting the table tops to add new life to the space while also keeping things local and handmade, which is what the community and loyal fan base has come to expect from Honest Restaurants.

An effort was made to preserve much of the classic diner exterior and several original elements inside - such as the rounded ceiling, stainless steel detailing, and light fixtures – but at the same time infused the space with brighter colors and a livelier tone to create an atmosphere that supports the new Mexican cuisine menu. Its conceptually a counterpoint the of the metallic past played off the wood and colorful present.
